Let's be real: 13 miles sounds intimidating. But here's the truth β this hike is long, not hard. The Alamere Falls trail is relatively flat with minimal elevation gain, following gentle coastal paths through Point Reyes National Seashore. No technical scrambling, no crazy climbs, just steady, scenic walking.
You should be comfortable hiking for a full day (expect 6-8 hours total including breaks). We'll take strategic rest stops, move at a sustainable pace, and I'll guide you every step of the way. Most adults with a basic fitness level can complete this hike β you don't need to be an athlete, just willing to put one foot in front of the other.
What you DO need: Good broken-in hiking boots or shoes (trails can be muddy in March!), plenty of water (3+ liters), snacks/lunch, and the mindset that you're going to surprise yourself with what you're capable of.
Bottom line: If you can walk for several hours with breaks, you can do this hike. It's more about endurance than difficulty. And that's exactly why it's such a confidence builder β it LOOKS impressive (because 13 miles IS impressive!) but it's totally achievable.

March in Point Reyes is beautifully unpredictable β which is exactly why we have a weather backup date! Expect mild coastal conditions with daytime temperatures in the mid-50s to low 60s, though it can feel cooler with ocean breezes. Mornings may start in the upper 40s.
March is still part of California's rainy season, so we could encounter morning fog, light drizzle, or gloriously sunny skies. The good news? Spring wildflowers LOVE this weather, and dramatic coastal clouds make for incredible photos. The not-so-good news? Trails can be muddy, so waterproof hiking boots are essential.
Come prepared for layers! Start with a moisture-wicking base layer, add a fleece or lightweight puffy jacket, and bring a waterproof rain jacket. You'll likely shed layers as you warm up on the trail, so pack everything in a daypack.
Bottom line: We hike rain or shine (that's what makes us badass!), but if conditions are genuinely unsafe (heavy rain, high winds, flooding), we'll move to our weather backup date: Saturday, March 14. I'll make the call by [date/time] and notify everyone via WhatsApp and email.
Pro tip: Pack an extra pair of dry socks. Future you will be SO grateful. π§¦
