FOR THE WINTER WATERFALL, HERE'S WHAT TO EXPECT:

Winter waterfalls in full force 💦: This is a seriously special hike since there are so many gorgeous waterfalls! Beautiful backdrops for family photos and so fun to splash in (if you dare brave the cold!).

Funghi hunt 🍄: Try to find the turkey tail funghi growing along the logs! Winter is actually one of the best times for funghi spotting, and with all the rain we've had, they're popping up everywhere. There are quite a few other varieties as well, and we can have some fun learning the names of all of them!

Leopard spotted banana slugs 🟢: Perhaps you've seen a yellow banana slug, but have you seen a leopard-spotted GREEN banana slug?! The color of the slugs can vary depending on their diet and the amount of moisture in their environment, and the slugs in this area are rather strikingly different than their yellow cousins!

Ladybug Christmas Tree 🐞🎄: Can you find the ladybugs? When ladybugs gather here for the winter, they cluster on the branches like tiny red ornaments, which is why I call it the Ladybug Christmas Tree! Did you know that a group of ladybugs is called a "loveliness"? Just a heads-up: whether they show up depends on their migration, so we can't guarantee ladybugs this year, but this is an area where we've seen a lot of them in the past.

Rock climbing fun 🧗‍♀️: Got some adventurous climbers? There are some fun rock scrambling opportunities along the trail where the kiddos can test their climbing skills!

🔍 Scavenger Hunt: Your kids will embark on a fun scavenger hunt and get a non-edible treat!

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Meet Other Families: Connect with other adventurous families and enjoy the great outdoors together!

  • EASY, 2 miles. Stroller-friendly 👣 Dog-friendly 🐕

  • 10:30 a.m. — Arrival & Intros 👋
    Meet at the parking lot for quick intros and restroom break before we hit the trail!

    10:45 a.m. — Hit the Trail! 🥾
    Start our hike with plenty of stops along the way to look for banana slugs 🟢🐌, ladybugs 🐞, mushrooms 🍄 and play on nature's slides (dirt piles!), rocks and trees!

    11:30 a.m. — Lunch & Waterfall Fun 💦
    Reach the midway water play area for lunch and pretend "fishing" in the creek! Family photos in front of the gorgeous waterfalls. Look for bugs and study rocks.

    12:15 p.m. — Head Back
    Return the way we came with Valentine craft time for the kiddos along the way! 💕

    12:45 p.m. — Back at Parking 🚗

    Important Details:

    • EARLY-BIRD DEADLINE: Please sign up by Sunday, Dec. 6, 10 p.m., for the early-bird rate. With changes to tariffs and import policies, we have faced significant price increases and time delays for our educational supplies so we really need families to sign up early so each child will get their treats.

    • One pass covers a family, meaning parents and children (you can bring an extra person on your pass, but 2 extra people will need to buy their own pass). One person extra is only for one-day hiking trips; not for multi-day events

    • After 2 kids, $10 for each additional child to cover treats + educational materials. Choose your household, number of kids and rate when you book: the price shown includes it.

    • Outings are not refundable. A one-time credit transfer to another outing — to be used within three months — is possible, please email us: miranda@mommymehiking.com

    • Full payment must be made to secure your spot (we don't take cash; only digital payment).

  • Every 10th: For every 10th family who signs up for this outing, we can welcome a family for free. This is geared toward low income families. We don't check income; this is an honor system.

    To ask for a spot, book this outing and choose Every 10th spot (free) as your household. There is nothing to pay at checkout.

    When deciding, we will give priority (among other factors) to those who have never joined an outing to ensure that everyone gets a chance to attend. More families ask than we have spots for, so we will contact the families we can welcome to confirm their booking.
